wild, wild, west

It certainly has been one heck of a week. I'm still packing up orders and got the kiln fired yesterday...
97 little birdies went in, and 96 came out. --one of my kiln shelves tipped a bit and landed on a birdie and he fused himself to it.
It's a rare occurrance that I load my kiln so precariously....actually it's never happened before...so I lost a platter and one bird. Could be worse. When I opened the kiln last nite and I noticed the angle of the top shelf was not level I started to panic--thinking the whole kiln load was ruined. So as I was unloading the kiln waayy too hot--shoulda let it cool another hour or two, I burned myself nicely on one of the shelves...silly potter! drop the damn hot shelf before you let your throwing hand get burnt!! It's not too bad--Nelson's Homeopathic Burn cream seemed to help a lot...
So I tore thru the kiln down to the bottom to check some vases and pulled up this one: Now WTF is this? why on earth would there be a gray line showing up on this pot??? this poor baby is destined for the shard pile because of a kiln god's graffiti? uggggh! These things never happen on the inside bottom of the pot--noooooo it has to be right on the front of the decoration---quit messing with me!!!

I am ok with graffiti from the kiln God's. Has to be a sign of good fortune, right? :)
Nothing in my world is perfect, it would fight right in.

Hope your ouchy is feeling better. Burns hurt so much. Always remember, immediately run burns under cold water for as long as you can stand it, then in ice water. It will prevent the burn from getting worse. Then treat it with medications.

Funny seeing all those birdies...they must be something to make!

Love these birdies! Wish I had a house to go with them. Sigh....
