hmmmm...

So here we go: getting into the swing of Spring production. My days have this really weird rhythm lately...I tend to do lots of throwing at night for some reason. Like, after 9pm, I get really creative and my shelves are filling up quickly with greenware...

Lots of new ideas for Springtime vases, lots of sizes and shapes etc. I know what this will mean when it comes down to shops ordering, it means I won't want to define myself by a particular line anymore and keep reproducing those items. For years I worked hard at keeping my line as limited as possible, never bringing too many new items in for the buyers, in case they would want me to produce more than I was able. So I had a manageable line and that worked well for me, even though it was a little routine and boring. Now it looks like I'm throwing caution to the winds and letting it rip. (well, for me at least!) The one thing I don't do is anything larger than 9 inches tall. And of course, that's what everyone asks for. 'These are great, and they sell well, but customers are asking for the same things only larger!' Well, the problem with that is the glaze, I tell them. See, I dip glaze my pieces. And I have yet to figure out a way to dip larger pieces and either A. not break them in the process, or B, have the glaze come out remotely evenly. I guess that is my new task. sheesh. Now I not only have to keep up with all this, but push myself to add some 'size' to the line. never ends, I tell ya.

Last nite I made this super yummy Italian Sausage and veggie thing (and I actually took notes so I can share the recipe with you!) and we watched the Olympics for a bit. B looked over at me and the boy, and lauged and said, "I gotta take your picture, you two are just like bookends!" So this is what he saw.
Note the clay all over my shirt. Classy gal all the way.
